In a recent MLN Matters article, CMS re-iterated that it will offer ICD-10 acknowledgment testing from March 3-7, 2014. Per the MLN Article, “This testing will allow all providers, billing companies, and clearinghouses the opportunity to determine whether CMS will be able to accept their claims with ICD-10 codes. While test claims will not be adjudicated, the MACs will return an acknowledgment to the submitter (a 277A) that confirms whether the submitted test claims were accepted or rejected. For more information about acknowledgement testing, refer to the information on your MAC’s website.”
Additionally, CMS will be working with a sample, pilot group of providers in the summer of 2014 to do end-to-end testing for ICD-10, to make sure that providers can successfully submit ICD-10 claims, that the CMS software will appropriately adjudicate the ICD-10 claims, and that accurate Remittance Advice (RA) reports are produced.
